We ventured up to higher ground, where a magnificent monument stood sentinel over the town below. As we gazed out at the panoramic vista before us, we couldn’t help but marvel at the courage and determination of those early settlers who braved the unknown in search of freedom and opportunity.

For those fortunate enough to find themselves cruising along Scenic Highway Route 6, a stop at the Cape Cod Canal scenic overlook is a must. Pulling off the road, visitors are greeted by sweeping views of the canal below, its tranquil waters shimmering in the sunlight.

Our favorite U.S. roadside stop of all time brings us to the rugged cliffs of California’s Pacific Coast Highway. More specifically, where the iconic Bixby Bridge spans the chasm between land and sea. Built in the 1930s, this architectural masterpiece has become a symbol of the American West, drawing travelers from far and wide to marvel at its graceful arches and breathtaking views.

As you approach the bridge, the sheer magnitude of its beauty takes your breath away. Perched high above the crashing waves below, it feels as though you've stumbled upon a scene from a postcard – all soaring towers and rugged coastline. Parking at a nearby scenic overlook, visitors venture out onto the windswept promontory, cameras in hand.

Below, the azure waters of the Pacific stretch as far as the eye can see, their rhythmic ebb and flow a soothing melody to our ears. And there, in the distance, the Bixby Bridge stands sentinel over it all, a silent testament to the boundless possibilities that await just beyond the horizon.

Posing for photos against the backdrop of the bridge, you can't help but feel a sense of exhilaration – a thrill that can only be found on the open road. For here, at Bixby Bridge, dreams truly meet the Pacific, reminding us that anything is possible if we dare to chase our passions and embrace the unknown.
